Wisdom Leads To Security
I’m not sure the first time that I realized that something that was obvious to me was something that someone else may not have thought of, but it related to my experience as a developer. I was reflecting on a meeting that I had left, and I marveled that the ideas that I had were not novel or altogether brilliant, but that the wisdom of the ideas shined through.
Wisdom is not often sought out, but it does shine through. We sometimes shun it because we believe that we know better– that we’re smarter, up on the latest trends, or that people that come before us definitely cannot understand the complexities of what we go through.
I think this is part of the reason for the generational gap– where it takes time and experience before the following generation truly begins to appreciate what the one prior had to go through and what they know.
But whoever listens to me [wisdom] will live securely
Proverbs 1:33
and be undisturbed by the dread of danger.”
If you know that the turmoil you face is temporal, it will be hard to shake you during the trial. If you understand that the customer yelling in your ear is engaging you and hasn’t abandoned you, then you know that it is a good problem you have.
When embraced, wisdom helps you to live life with focus– calm and steady. It makes people want to follow you, it inspires those that follow, and is the steely focus a man or woman of purpose needs.
Follow hard after wisdom, and gain it everywhere you can. You can learn much from the success and failures of others!
