What Am I Reading?
So I’ve been trying to read more books lately as a way of growing and not looking at a screen so much. Maybe you’re interested in some of the things that I’m reading, so I figured I would share reviews of the books I have read with an update on what is currently on my nightstand. So, what is currently living there? I’m glad you asked!
The lowest spot on my nightstand is occupied by Vox Day’s Alt-Hero: Q as I have always liked reading comics and this one seemed interesting as I read it to be an interesting take on the QAnon phenomenon that has been mentioned on the news. It was a quick read– most comics are– and I found that the artwork was fantastic, you could tell this was setting the main character up, but I didn’t appreciate the language in it– it seemed a little bit over the top to me.
Next up is Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover which I picked up at Ollies for a discount– Dave would be proud. The teens and I are going through his video course, and every time I hear his presentation I want to hear more. I haven’t even cracked it open yet, but I’ve read an earlier version. I think I lent it to someone that never returned it! I hope they are getting good use of it.
I have Spiritual Leadership by Oswald Sanders occupying the next spot. This was a book I picked up in college for a special class I was taking, and I pulled it out because I think I need to read it again to make sure I’m applying Spiritual Leadership to my family and where I work.
Man of the House by C.R. Wiley just showed up at my house, and has earned it’s spot next in line. After finishing up The Household and the War for the Cosmos, I knew I just had to get this “prequel”. This book is supposed to be the practical while the one I read was the theoretical. I’ll be interested to see what he covers in this one.
The book that I’m currently reading is Bearing Fruit by Robby Gallaty. I’ve read the first two books: Growing Up and Firmly Planted and I found them convicting to my state of mind regarding discipleship and how it should be practiced. I will definitely have to review them in the near future. I’m finding that although I’m only a chapter or so into Bearing Fruit that I’m already deep into the concept of being in the vine, and I’ve found it interesting how church and my private Bible reading have all been working around this topic lately.
So that’s what’s on my nightstand. Maybe you can share what’s on yours in the comments below?
