Wisdom calls us to Shrewdness
Unlike flattery and trying to get your way by saying things that aren’t true, and seducing the foolish, wisdom calls for you to be shrewd and understanding. Developing common sense is something that can only aid you in your journey in the real and online worlds.
Why, it was just the other day that I was seeing something put out about how people shouldn’t take everything that financial YouTubers say about how they should save or invest their money, or that certain people that are making bunches of money online are doing it not with the thing they are trying to convince you of, but of selling books and courses claiming to trade you in those things.
We are foolish people, and we are easily taken in if we see that we should be able to get a good deal, a cheaper price, or something for free. And wisdom cries out to us to spend time in the pursuit of knowledge and truth instead of jumping first and asking questions later.
Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced;
Proverbs 8:5
develop common sense, you who are foolish.
Learn to be skeptical of things that you are told the first time that you’ve been told them. It used to be a big thing to “question everything”, but it really pays to make sure that something makes sense before proceeding further.
- If there are that many pennies worth thousands of dollars, everyone would find them, or they wouldn’t be worth that much
- If you see a deal that’s just too cheap, it’s probably not real– and can get you a virus on the Internet!
- There’s a reason that some things are not DIY
- If all of these pills and weight loss gimmicks work, then there’d be a lot less people overweight
I’m sure you could name some others. True wisdom is better than silver, and knowledge is better than gold. For one thing, they are something that you can use all the time, instead of holding and trying to sell when the price is right. For another, they can help you to see where you should invest and what you should invest in when you should invest, and when you should wait. They help you to see truth and the value that’s beyond the dollars and cents.
So seek wisdom!
