What Are Some Things You Wish Your Parents Told You?
One of the things that seems backward about the way we live is that by the time you realize that you should learn something from your parents, it’s too late.
One of my grandfathers fought in WWII and was a jack-of-all-trades type, though he did HVAC and sold appliances for a living. The other was a farmer. And while my father is/was a programmer and I am as well, you’d think that I would have a fairly well-rounded upbringing… but I can’t say that I understood or valued their experience and knowledge until after I no longer had access to it.
In a recent article inspired by a thread on Reddit, ten of the items that people wished they were taught included everything from how to respect a partner to how to fix things and many things in between.
For me, I think I’d like to hear more about the mistakes they’ve made and how I can avoid them– what are the regrets? Have they made plans and couldn’t follow through?
I’ve been thinking a lot about family vision, and what it means to succeed as a Christian and as a dad, and I hope to share some of these thoughts with you.
But I leave you with the same question– what are some things that you wish your parents told you?
