Nothing Worse than Endless Meetings
Solomon was way ahead of his time. In Proverbs 14 we come to the following truth:
There is profit in all hard work,
Proverbs 14:23
but endless talk leads only to poverty.
We’ve all been a part of meetings that could have been emails or ones that we’ve been called into that have little relevance to our lives. Some have gone so far as to calculate the cost of the people present and wonder if it’s worth it.
I don’t think God is telling us not to have a plan, but that if all we do is talk– if we talk without ever taking action– then we will find ourselves poor. It is the hard work that actually yields the profit.
While you could try to use this verse to get out of your next meeting, try instead to guide the time toward the performing of the work. That is the point, after all. Believers need to be the best workers that are the most focused so that we may glorify our Father in Heaven by the testimony of our labor!
